The Symptoms of Bipolar

There may be occasions when we feel happy for no apparent reason and want to sing and dance for joy. There are also times when all of us feel melancholic or sad. Mood swings are present in a lot of people but they do not happen everyday and not without reason. But in cases where people are ecstatic one moment then all of sudden fall into the depths of depression, then there is the possibility that they may be suffering from bipolar disease with bipolar symptoms present. There are false myths about bipolar disease and bipolar symptoms harbored by most people and that is why the truth about bipolar disorder must be known.

The Truth About Bipolar Disorder

Bipolar disorder is also popularly known as manic depression. As the name indicates, the symptoms of this disorder are characterized with periods of euphoria or mania alternating with periods of depression. These periods are not just fleeting phases. They last for hours, days and months. Moreover these radical mood changes also hamper the ability of the individual to lead a normal day to day life.

In the mania phase, the patient may feel a burst of energy, may paint, sing or dance or quit his job or shop like a madman. The mania phase is characterized by the patient feeling euphoric for no apparent reason.

The depression phase on the other hand can be characterized by symptoms of low or no energy. A person suffering from this phase may be completely depressed about everything, wallow in self pity and be very lethargic for no reason.

These days bipolar disorder is quite a common affliction affecting almost 3% of the adult population in the US. Researches are going on to ascertain its true causes though its been linked to genetics and family history.

Its often observed that the onset of bipolar disorder takes place in the late teenage or early adult years. Hence, initially most people mistake the bipolar symptoms in teens as a typical adolescent behavior and dont pay much attention which makes the symptoms worse. Hence, early prognosis of this disease can enable the patient to lead a healthy life.

People suffering from bipolar disease and the bipolar symptoms were often referred to as "mad" in the early days. Another perception was that they were possessed by evil spirits. However, many of these myths have been shattered with the advancement of technology.

Here are some old myths about bipolar disorder which were prevalent till recently:

Patients with bipolar disorder can no longer have a good life: This myth is absolutely false since people over the world afflicted with bipolar disorder can lead normal lives and have children and a great family. All that is required is a good support system and a good coping ability to manage the symptoms when they occur.

There is always an alternation between mania and depression for patients with bipolar disorder " Both these phases occur with bipolar disorder but there tends to be more of an occurrence of depression rather than mania. Mania is so mild most of the time that its hardly noticeable. There are also several instances where patients may not experience any symptoms for some time.

Medicines and therapy can be used to treat bipolar disease and bipolar symptoms. But even with these conventional cures, the unconditional love and support of loved ones is very important in ensuring a normal life for someone suffering from the disease.

Save Your Marriage With A Live In Domestic Help or Housekeeper

It may be incredible to think that a live in domestic help or housekeeper can save a marriage. Some marriages fail accordingly because the wife does not have the time for her husband anymore, and so when you think about this and some of the other causes why marriages fail, you will be able to link the two together.

If the root cause of your marital problems is the limited time you get to spend with your husband because you are busy with household chores, a live in domestic help or housekeeper will prove to be of significance.

The wife normally does so many things in the house. She cleans, washes the dishes and the clothes; she also cooks, and basically, does everything else to make sure that the house is in order. While she may be viewed as a superwoman, doing all these things can be very tiring for her that when it is time for her to call it a day, the only thing that she can do is lie down and sleep --- this means, no more special time with hubby.

With a live in domestic help or housekeeper, you can delegate some of your duties to her. You can, for example, give her the task of washing the dishes and the clothes, and perhaps even do some cooking, if you are comfortable with that. Cleaning the entire house on a daily basis can really be taxing on your part, but if you have a housekeeper at home, you can let her do the work, so you can concentrate on many other things.

You may think, though, that a housekeeper or a live in domestic help is only for the rich. Maintaining a maid can, indeed, be expensive; however, getting stressed out in doing things all by yourself and the resulting fights with your partner can be damaging to your marriage --- and such can turn out to be more costly!

Nonetheless, in the event that you decide that getting a live in domestic help is, indeed, a good idea, consult your friends or family members so they can recommend someone they know. An alternative is to find likely candidates from reputable manpower agencies. Certainly, you would not want to hire just anybody, considering that she will be living in your home twenty four hours a day, so it is always advisable to ask for recommendations.

You should also be aware of the policies and guidelines in hiring a live in domestic help or housekeeper. Find out the minimum salary mandated by law and the benefits that you, as employer, should be giving your employees.

Going through all these, a full time housekeeper or a live in domestic help can, indeed, save your marriage.

Ten Sensible Ways to Reduce Your Waistline.

Losing a few pounds doesn't have to be a chore or expensive, either. As long as you can read the labels on the foods you purchase, you can be mindful of your intake of things such as fat, carbohydrates, sugars, etc. If you're disciplined enough, it doesn't have to cost you any more than you would normally spend at the grocery store. Here are ten practical things to keep in mind if shedding a few pounds is a priority:

1. Avoid processed foods like the plague. Fast food is a killer -- literally. So are things like cakes, ice creams, sodas, and candies. These foods often contain hidden fat and sugar.

2. Exercise more. This will help to burn fat and control your appetite. Walk, jog, swim, ride a bike; anything that will get your heart pumping. If your current health condition prohibits anything strenuous, consult with your doctor.

3. Be conscious of your fat and carb intake. Obviously, if both of these are high, you're going to gain weight. You want to find the right balance based on your daily calorie intake. Cut back slightly on one until you see the results you want. You can't cut both out completely. That's not healthy either. You need to maintain certain fats in your diet to help break down others.

4. Reduce your fat intake. This is not as difficult as it may seem. A pair of kitchen scissors works wonders. Let's say you have a passion for chicken. Skinless is better, especially if you like your chicken fried. Before you cook it, trim the visible fat. Reduce your intake of red meat and start buying lower-fat varieties of fish, turkey, pork, etc.

5. Cut out the sugar. Again, read the labels, and if you have to add it to your food, do so sparingly.

6. Watch your alcohol consumption. This relates to the previous paragraph. Lots of sugar.

7. Don't starve yourself during the day. Don't think that not eating will give you free reign at dinner. Not a good idea. If you do this, you'll tend to eat more. Keep yourself satisfied during the day by eating several small meals, but make sure they contain lots of fruits and vegetables.

8. Occupy your time. Get yourself a hobby. If you have something that will divert your attention, you'll have less time to think about food.

9. Switch to healthy foods. Eat raw fruits and vegetables as often as possible. Avoid fried and processed foods. Natural foods will provide you with the fat-burning qualities you need.

10. Reduce your portion sizes. You'll find that a lower-fat diet will leave you feeling less satisfied. This is because you're not taking in the foods that filled you up before. You may find the need to snack more. If that's the case, just pick things that are satisfying but healthy. A Twinkie is not a good substitute for celery.

Just remember not to make any drastic changes at first. Ease into things slowly and see what works best for you. Soon you'll discover that low fat does not have to equate to low taste.

Complete Your Basement Bar Idea

Having a basement bar idea and developing it is one of the best home improvement projects a homeowner can come up with. When you have lots of friends coming over especially on weekends, a basement bar right in your home would be useful. Even for just the simple joy of hanging out, the basement is a perfect spot.

When you know your friends love your basement, it makes the room special and more enjoyable to hang out in. Having a very good basement bar idea is one thing that gives you that sense of fulfillment. The conversation doesn't seem to end. Here are some things you need to set it up.

1. Sink. You have to place your sink in a corner where it's near to the plumbing system. This is will make it easier to install. Since all ends of the plumbing system in your house leads to the basement, might as well set up your mini bar there. Your wet bar is where you wash stuff or drain all excessive spills into the sink.

2. Liquor shelves. Having a liquor shelf in your basement bar is essential since you'll be serving drinks in the room. Place your liquor shelf in an area where the temperature is consistent. This will help as most of the wine and other liquor types are temperature regulated. A basement bar idea can never be complete without this.

3. Keg, cooler, and a refrigerator. Consider installing a beer keg shelf under your bar if you're thinking about serving beer. It's safe and it's easy to manage. Some bar units have a built-in keg cabinet. An alternative to the beer keg is a cooler to put your beer bottles in. However, coolers can also be messy after the party. If you don't like coolers or keg, put a mini ref in your basement bar. But these are also must haves for a basement bar.

4. The bar. Can a basement bar be what it is without the bar? You have a choice of building your own. Some carpentry skills and a little time in your weekend schedule is what you basically need. This is most practical when your budget is tight. However, if cash is not a concern, buy one. There are a lot of different types of bars that suits your basement bar idea to choose from.

5. A bartender. Then adding an experienced bartender in your list makes it more fun. However, this can add to your overhead cost. If you have a friend who knows how to mix concoctions, send him in. But if you don't, the next best option is to study this art of mixing drinks. The fun part is when the party begins. Having this is your plan completes your basement bar idea.

Many basement bars don't even look like a basement at all. The designs are so good you might think it's a bar in a hotel restaurant. The point is that all you need is a good and clear vision of how your bar should look like. Your basement bar idea is your key to make it happen. When it's done you'll be the envy of your friends and neighborhood.

What are wash balls and how do they work?

I am not sure if you have already heard about wash balls, so let me explain what they are in a few short words. Wash balls are a pretty new invention that can eliminate the use of washing detergents while you do your laundry. They look like funny shaped plastic balls and you put them in your washing machine together with your laundry.

Here I will try and explain how do wash balls work, I mean at least how they are supposed to work. I've been using them for a while now and I'm satisfied but then again I'm not that picky and have a poor attention to details. And I always use a little bit of detergent for the smell, not just wash balls and water.

Now lets take a look at how washing balls work.

First, wash balls need to be "charged" by the sun. You need to put them in the sun for a few hours once every month. Every ball contains small ceramic pellets. By exposing them to the sun you increase the energy in the chemical pellets in the ball.

These pellets inside the ball emit infra red rays that break water molecule's hydrogen combination into smaller water cluster and activate the small water cluster. This increases the molecular motion of the water, water easily penetrates the fibers and the washing power of the water itself is increased.

Washing balls will also soften the fibers in you clothes while they are washing. By producing negative ions - anions they make the fibers softer and dirt can come out faster and easier.

Wash ball also eliminates the chlorine from the water. This helps save the clothes (colors and elasticity). By doing this it softens the water and soft water has lower surface tension and is better for any kind of washing.

When washing clothes pH is also important. Wash balls keep the water at the same pH level as washing detergent. This helps remove oils from your clothes.

This is how wash balls replace detergent when it comes to washing your dirty clothes. If all this is true (I can sadly not tell you if all this is possible, we would need a scientist to do that) wash balls are one of the greater inventions. They could save us a lot of money and what is even more important - they would have a big positive impact on the environment. But you will have to decide for yourselves.

What To Know Before Choosing A Real Estate Agent

Choosing a Real Estate agent to help you sell your home involves a bit more than just calling a Realtor and signing a contract with them. There are many factors and aspects about selling a home, the amount of time on the job is only one and should not necessarily be the deciding factor.

The listing agent, (the sellers agent) is the one placing your property information on the MLS which is the nation wide database where all listings listed with a licensed Realtor will be shown. Some listing agents will do that, and nothing more, waiting for an agent to call with a prospective buyer.

Knowing how may homes the agent has sold in the past year, how many of those transactions were as a sellers agent? How many of those homes sold for the asking price? In other words, will your agent work to get your asking price or will they quickly advice you to reduce your price for a quick sale? (And a quick comission?)

Not everyone is good at negotiating or asking for things. In a transaction involving a large sum of money such as your house, would you not have an agent that have the skill and know how to negotiate the best deal for you?

Besides placing your listing on the MLS, what other marketing plans does this agent have? Ads? Will they host open houses? Will those open houses be advertised somewhere to draw the largest amount of house-shoppers?

Is your potential agent available seven days a week? Amazingly, some agents do not work, nor return calls on the weekends. Weekends tend to be the busiest time in real estate... What will be the average respons time? This can be crusial not only when a new potential buyer makes contact, but also during negotiations when time is of the essense due to contract expirations.

The personality of your agent is important as well. Is he/she upbeat and easy to talk with? Is she enthusiastic and optimistic? Is she interested in putting in some effort to get this deal completed? Or is she pessimistic, cautious and unmotivated

Don't rush selecting your agent. You will be working with this person for many months, and canceling a contract may be difficult and or, costly. Take the time to know you have chosen a competent, positive agent that you will like working with.
