Poll Finds Americans For Healthcare Reform

Polls done by the Kaiser Family Foundation each month track public opinion regarding health care and health insurance. Results from these can be eye opening, and provide an opportunity to observe where the public stands on these issues.

This April poll was reported by Medical News Today, some of the results are: 59% say the health care reform is becoming more important now, 36% avoided regular office visits to doctors or dentists due to high costs, 26% had an individual within their home who struggled with health care bills this past year, 71% would be OK with having taxes raised on high income American to help pay for health care reform, 67% strongly or somewhat favor some type of national health insurance plan to provide competition with private plans.

Health care and health insurance reform are obviously becoming much more important to the American people as the days pass. There are also a large number of Americans becoming more in debt with the rising cost of health care.

The political process is thrilled to see these results as it helps them in their goal for health care reform. With the majority seemingly on their side, according to the Kaiser poll, there's a possibility for history making legislation regarding a far reaching health care reform.

Polls are very subject to change depending on the whims of time. They give a good glimpse of current opinion but these opinions can change, especially if the economic crisis deepens. Then of course, the Democrats and Republicans have some disagreements on the approach to solving the issues in health care.

Chi is an important element in the practice of Feng Shui. The flow of chi is the focal point for the application of this ancient Chinese practice. It is the energy that objects give off.

The flow of chi is determined by many natural factors. Some objects will evoke more chi than others and some objects will block the chi instead of helping it to pass by and flow. Figuring out what these objects are and placing them in areas where they will help the flowing of the room is crucial. One of the best ways that the flow can help to be determined is by how well any one person can move throughout the room.

Orchid Roots

One adaption in orchids can be found among the epidendrums. The species E. falcatum retains all its weight in the thick, heavy leaves. The root system is not numerous, but s-ong enough to hold a heavy plant firmly in its place on a tree. The pseudobulbs are merely short stems which support the long, spears-lriaped leaves which, rough and hard, will withstand a harsh environment. They are the main source of food supply for the plant.

Only occasionally is a single old leaf shed, their lifespan being for many years. The plant grows from a downward-creeping rhizome and the large green flower emerges from inside the base of the leaf. In cultivation the pendent habit should be retained and regular spraying essential.

All orchids produce roots. There are basically two kinds: aerial and underground. The root structure of orchids is peculiar to them, and all their roots are of a uniform thickness which does not increase with age. The roots will branch, in some species freely. All consist of a central wiry thread which is surrounded by the fleshy, moisture- retaining, part which in turn is coated by the white papery covering, the velamen, which grows as the root extends, leaving only the green growing tip exposed.

Epiphytic sympodial orchids produce their roots from the base of the leading growth at some stage during the young growth's development, and will give it a tremendous boost with a fresh food supply.

In cultivation these roots can he aerial or underground depending upon the angle at which they are produced. Some may grow horizontally and remain as aerial roots until they come into contact with compost when they will grow into it to become terrestrial.

A small group of orchids consist merely of a small crown from which bursts a mass of tangled roots. These species, among them the genus Microcoelia, have roots which produce chlorophyll.
