Create Inexpensive Shower Invitations Yourself

Invitations for weddings and baby showers and all the other big occasions can be an expensive part of throwing your celebration. Many people have turned to creating or downloading inexpensive and even free invitations that can be printed out at home. Take the time to research the possibilities and make sure that you have the right printer and paper to work with.

Look Online For Free Invitations

If you do a search for free invitations on Google, you will find that there are several sites that offer different and customizable card templates that you can personalize to your needs and taste. All it takes is a little creativity and for the truly adventurous a little Photoshop work to create a true unique baby shower invitation or wedding invite.

This is a great way to save money on your event that can be used towards parts of the party that are more fun like food and decorations. In addition, it becomes a great project for friends and family to work on together, which only adds to the enjoyment.

Quality Photo Paper And Ink Is Important

In order to really make the self published cards look their best, it is important that you use high quality photo paper and ink because no matter how pretty the design of your invite is there is no way to create the perfect card if the print doesnt come out right on the printer. Printers are another important aspect of using the right products, but even basic printers these days do a good job of providing a broad range of colors and clear prints.

Aside from choosing the template for your invitation, the quality of paper you pick will be the most important decision. The average computer paper will just look cheap and not hold the colors as well as a thicker higher quality paper.

Matte photo paper and canvas photo paper are two types of professional photo paper that can have a huge impact on the look and feel of your cards. Premium matte paper will add a little gloss to the final product without it being too shiny and reflective, while canvas paper can add an old style ancient document look to the invitation.

Wedding shower and baby shower invitations do not have to eat up most of your budget if you do a little research and print your own invites from home. With a little creativity and good paper, you can make your own professional invites at a fraction of the cost.

Scrapbooking for Beginners

Are you one of those people that at every occasion feels it is the right occasion to take a picture right? Your family at holidays, reunions, sporting events etc. might even run away when you bring out the camera. Once you take your pictures what should you do with them?

You have the option to do it the easy way (by internet) or yourself (the hard way) because you start with nothing at the beginning. Its more work but more personal.

What do you use while doing your album? Anything you want!!! Paper, pictures, leaves; whatever you feel like it there are absolutely no rules since its your album and your treasure. If you want your picture to look go for ages here are a few tips:

1. If you are seriously considering putting your original pictures in your album, look for the paper that mentions acid free. If not youll have a bad surprise one day. All your pictures will have turned yellow or not as sharp. That is a direct cause of the acid.

2. One short cut you can take as you start off is to consider using your computer to make your page borders. Doing them by hand can be time consuming. Just be careful of the ink you use as certain types of ink can discolor your pictures over time.

3. So we have mentioned already that there are really no limits or rules when you scrap book as it is your imagination that guides you. You are free to use any materials you want even if they might pose problems down the road. It is nice to know that you dont need to despair over this. You can use a called the Archival Spray. Using this spray on your souvenirs will create the barrier you need against acid.

You can find all those materials crafts stores around the world or on line. All you need to remember is that you can do it all yourself. You can do your own journaling with special none acid paper and lingin free pens and markers.

Washington Crafts Inspired by Coffee

Seattle is a place associated with coffee; there are quite a number of coffee shops that dot the place here and there, and of course, that one particular coffee company that grew from its humble origins right here in pike Place Market. The irony here is even though Washington is an agricultural state, it does not grow coffee at all. Washington does not have the climate that is conducive to coffee trees.

At any rate, it is true that to this very day, there are a lot of people that go to Seattle if only to partake in the many coffee shops that line the streets. So, it follows that the crafts made here draw their inspiration from coffee. It has been said, after all, that coffee is the wine of Apollo, stimulating thought and creativity. Thus, many masterfully made crafts were inspired over a cup of coffee.

I have also seen some artisans that have taken it a step further, though. Coffee can be an art form in itself if used properly; even the simple process of roasting the beans can be a great subject for artistic photographers. In simple words, there are those that turn coffee into paint; both literally and figuratively speaking.

I've seen one such crafted piece wherein miniature sculptures were accentuated with roasted coffee beans. It gave the piece an extra bit of texture, and even though the seductive smell of the bean would eventually fade away, the piece itself would still be there. Crafts of this kind are the perfect accent to a coffee enthusiast's living room.

As I've said above, I've seen works wherein the coffee is actually used as the paint for an artwork. Different shades of brown dominate the piece, giving an otherwise new piece that definite classical look. Truly, coffee continues to inspire you as you contemplate the piece over your morning cup. I for one will continue to drink as I do my craftswork.

Make a Quick Buck at Nevada Craft Shows

The Constitution has been taken to the fullest extent in the State of Nevada. The people here are more free than any other State, and their libertarian ways enact certain laws that other States would not even dream of doing. Nevada, in a lot of ways, is a State ahead of its time; even with today's American standards.

Inevitably, we are destined to feel the tough financial times in the upcoming days ahead that other States have yet to feel. It is true that the Silver State is going to face tough times itself, being the biggest economic loser of 2008. One can be sure that tougher times are still coming in Nevada and frugality will be a new way of living. But there are a lot of people in Nevada for whom this is not an easy task to undertake.

If you have been laid off from work, and just waiting around for word from companies you applied to, it's a good idea to sit back and think about things. Like, what did you like to do as a child? Maybe cooking under your mom's watchful eye was something you liked doing, for example? These kinds of things will keep you occupied enough to keep you being a spendthrift.

Indeed, you may go back to your hobbies, and may even decide to try and sell some of your crafts. There are many craft fairs that occur in Nevada, even in these trying times. Once you have collected enough stock, try contacting one of these events' organizers. By selling your artistic works elsewhere, you will even be able to earn a little something extra to help with the times.

So, don't just sit there doing nothing! Stop being a bum and make yourself move! It's a crime to do nothing in these times, and you don't even have to leave the comfort of your own home to do so. All you have to do is look back, and start thinking about where you came from.

Tips For Creating Collages!…

Plenty of freedom is afforded when you create collages. Basically you can use anything you like to make up your collage, and not only that, you can express your feelings on it in any way you choose.

Collages can consist of many different types of textures. Some people cut pieces out of magazines, you can use fabric scraps, cardboard, string, wood jewels, silver paper, there are no bounds.

It may be now, that you have to paint your background card, or whatever you may be using. Once it is dry, you can then sketch out your subject, then try different pieces out and find places to position them on your sketch, or backdrop.

At this stage, eliminate anything you are not going to use. You could use crepe paper, but any sort of paper you will need in your collage, is in need of tearing or cutting into various shapes and colour choices.

The glue you actually use to stick your collages is very important to your success. So, if you are using fabrics, you need a glue designed for that purpose. The same applies if you are using paper, as you need to be sure your pieces will hold fast.

The description above is just written as an extremely simple guide for you, but do not follow this too stringently. After all, the perception of the collage is yours alone, let rip and use all manner of things, for example, feathers, leather, pastels, sand, or whatever comes to your artistic mind!

School children do this regularly, perhaps first of all pictures simply made from silver or gold paper, magazines, or even felt and bottle tops. Interesting collages too, can simply be made consisting only of black and white newspaper print to achieve quite stunning effects.

Recent trends seem to lean towards collages made up from assorted photographs. Students and children like doing these to include their friends, family members or family pets.

So, to do a collage, we have established that you need a base and these can differ enormously with the different weights of objects to be applied to it. Your background plays an important part too. It could be that you paste photos or magazine shots, or you may even have to paint it first, but you will need to sketch out the subject.

Then you need an assortment of gathered items to choose from. You are unlikely to use them all and no need to fret about using, what may seem rather strange items, nor do they all have to be flat on your surface.

Move them around your collage, placing them until you are satisfied with what you have. Then glue each piece very carefully and wait for it to dry. Once it has dried, you could put a coating of a sealant on it, just for protection purposes.

The end result is down to you and how you see fit to use it, whether it is mounted on the wall or a shelf as a picture. Make your choice!

Crafts and Cash at Fairs

It's all very well and good to have a bit of skill in arts and crafts, but it doesn't hurt to earn a bit from it, too. Family and friends will support your venture and appreciate the art that you do. There's also a sense of satisfaction and enjoyment from the experience. Because of such, a booth or stall is always an option to artists and craftspeople when they have the chance to show off their art and wares.

It's not a good idea to just up and go to a festival, rent a booth and put up a stall with all your wares. It's not as simple as that. A bit of research won't hurt and will probably help a lot in the long run. Consider a few things and you won't end up with negative returns afterwards.

First off, you have to find out something about the event. Talk to the organizers, and ask questions. Is this an annual festival? What is the typical turnout of people? If this is the first time that they're putting an event together, how are they promoting it? You want to set up a stall on an event people will go to, and choosing the wrong one could already be a bad turn for your extra income.

Next, you have to figure out the specifics of the stall itself. Would you be making shakes, for example? If so, then you may need an outlet for your blender, and thus you'd have to ask if the organizer would provide access to electricity during an event. Ask for the availability of tables and chairs as well. Many events would provide these things, but some won't.

Your crafts define you, and sharing it with people who appreciate it is very rewarding. But, it wouldn't hurt to also earn a bit of cash flow from this venture. So buck up, look around for schedules of events and go forth with your talents ready and willing into the fray.

Finding Costumes at Maryland Craft Shows

Since it's our official State Sport, it is perfectly normal to see the occasional jousting show here in Maryland. Of course, none of the participants are real-life knights, but they are nevertheless people who enjoy the traditional fight in horseback. It's no longer a bloodthirsty sport; the International Jousting Association has introduced modern safety protocols. As a result, the event is now a lot more fun.

Some of these events become even more fun, as they mimic the very atmosphere of the Middle Ages. Nothing modern is allowed inside, and people come in clothes appropriate for that time. When these events do this, the whole place transforms into a snapshot of an era gone; an era when knights in their mighty steeds saved the princess in a tower.

It stands to reason, then, that you will need the right outfit for the occasion. Don't worry if you don't have one prepared; you can go to these events in your plain clothes. Once there, though, go to the craft shows surrounding the jousting area. Besides the crafts that imitate the art of the age, you will meet craftspeople that specialize in making outfits reminiscent of the medieval era. Have yourself fitted up with one of these clothes, or commission one to be made just for you.

Now, the question at this point is how to get to these jousting festivals. Thanks to the Internet, this is not really a big problem. A simple search on Maryland Craft Fairs will lead you to websites that list the events at your leisure. Get all the necessary information, and you'll be well on your way.

Relive the romance of the middle ages and attend some jousting events! Watch knights in theatric combat, and involve yourself in the craft shows that are in attendance!
